Swanage Residents defeat Cancel Culture

Common sense has prevailed again – this time in Swanage, Dorset.

Swanage Town Council has been forced to perform an embarrassing ‘u-turn’ after they had voted to rename a local road from ‘Darkie Lane’ to ‘Dark Lane’.

Darkie Lane in Swanage got its name approximately ninety years ago because it was poorly lit, being lined by elm trees and hedgerows that made it dark and shady.

Historical documents dating back to the 1930s reveal that Darkie Lane, as it is known today on maps, was once called ‘Dark Lane’ – with the name having evolved over the decades.

The local council agreed to change the name after getting a letter of complaint from a family who visited the coastal town for a holiday during the summer.

However, the matter didn’t end there!

Dorset Council’s power to alter street names can only be exercised with the consent of two-thirds in number of the ratepayers and persons who are liable to pay an amount in respect of council tax in any street.

The council contacted residents requesting their views on the naming of the road. The overwhelming response was in favour of keeping the name as it was, ‘Darkie Lane’.

Residents on Darkie Lane have achieved a victory against ‘Cancel Culture’

A council spokesperson said, “As a two-thirds majority in favour of changing the road name was not achieved, Dorset Council will no longer pursue this and now consider the matter closed.”

So the good news is, the woke ‘do-gooder’ who made the complaint failed in their attempt to force political correctness on a Dorset town!

The name of the lane ninety-plus years ago is not the issue here. The fact that someone who was only visiting the town for a short holiday had the gall to make a complaint to the council highlights the agenda of cancel culture activists.

Of course, those known as ‘do-gooders’ never do any good at all! Perhaps we should rename them ‘do-no-gooders’! They are part of the leftist, anti-tradition, anti-patriotic, anti-family drive to undermine and cancel our way of life and are hell-bent on replacing the indigenous British people in our ancestral homeland via open borders and large-scale immigration. They are also part of the evil Black Lives Matter Movement (BLM), who were rampaging through our streets, tearing down statues and causing mayhem during the summer of 2020. BLM have a chaotic policy of defunding the police, wanting to replace it with some type of twisted, upside down, topsy-turvy, crazed Marxist order. We must oppose them every time!

Fortunately, there are still plenty of us in Britain with pride and patriotism running through our veins. There are also people such as the residents of Darkie Lane who will oppose political correctness when it rears its ugly head.

  1. Well done locals! If only our authorities asked us for permission on other things they take it upon themselves to alter & transform!

  2. It seems White liberals are more offended by alleged racism than the average non-white. Talk about irony! Anyway, good news! 😊👍

  3. It is pleasing to note local councillors are concerning their self’s with local issues and nor taking notice of a ” passer by ” who wants to impose their stupid ” woke ” views on right thinking people .
